To all of my friends, supporters, constituents and loved ones:

 

The paths we take in our lives are sometimes chosen by us and at times are chosen for us. My life’s journey has been and continues to be one which has been full of surprises; some good and some otherwise. One of the very satisfying paths I have chosen has led me to participate and serve in my hometown of Norridge’s government.

 

I have embarked on many other paths in and out of my 20+ years of involvement in Norridge municipal government, which have not been chosen, but handed to me. Some of these have involved serious health issues, which by the Grace of God, my determination, and the loving support of my family, I have successfully dealt with and in so doing have been able to continue this wonderful life journey I am on. 

 

As many of you know, I have been in remission from Leukemia for the past two and one-half years. In dealing with this blood borne form of cancer I have had the benefit of a multitude of medical personnel weighing in on doing what’s best for my continued health. In the next several months I will be heeding their advice and go for various treatments and procedures which are necessary to prolong my journey on this earth. 

 

Due in large part to what I know will be necessary for me to achieve medically, I have decided that I will not be running for re-election as President of this great village which I love so much in the April 2013 general election.

 

However, my medical team has advised me that I should be capable of continuing to fully administer the necessary duties of the public office of Village President, to which I was elected three and one-half years ago.  So, with the Grace of God, I will continue to serve you as your Mayor (President) until the end of my term next April.

 

I have tried to practice several things, not only in my position as Village President, but also in my life’s mission... Generosity of Soul, Sincerity, Earnestness, Enthusiasm, Kindness, Dedication and Integrity.

 

I hope I have succeeded in most, if not all.
