Dishonored Checks

Sec. 38-1. Dishonored checks. Any person who issues a check or other draft payable to the village that is not honored upon presentment because the drawer does not have an account with the drawee, because the drawer does not have sufficient funds in his account, or for any other reason, shall be liable to the village in the amount of $20.00 for each check or other draft dishonored. If retribution is not made within a timely matter, you will receive a citation with a mandatory court appearance and a fine up to $750.00.
