Significant increases in water usage (as reflected in higher water bills) are usually due to changes in your water usage habits. Some common changes include:
• Leaking toilets or fixtures.
• Leaking irrigation systems and landscape watering.
• Furnace humidifier use and hot water tank leaks.
• Additional house guests.
• Filling swimming pools.
We recommend that you first check these and other similar household items to ensure that they are not the cause of increased usage. Your water meter can assist you in locating the source of the leak. The majority of homes in Norridge have one of the meters shown below.

Check for Leaks – Badger Meters

Check your meter. Please note the little red dial, just to the left of the center of the meter. The red dial only moves when water is going through the meter and out somewhere else in your home. Go to the first water source and shut it off. Go back and check the meter. Continue this until the leak is located.
