Community Alert - Employee Impersonation
The Village of Norridge and the Norridge Police Department would like to make you aware of a current scam that was reported in the Village.
Individuals impersonating Norridge Public Works Water Department employees are knocking on resident’s doors claiming to be Village employees there to take water samples. If you are not home, they will leave a post card like the one below asking for you to contact them so that they may come out and test your water. THIS IS A SCAM…THEY ARE NOT VILLAGE OF NORRIDGE EMPLOYEES. The Norridge Public Works Water Department would never try to gain access to your home without an appointment, nor would they try to obtain a random water sample without prior notification.
As a reminder, all Village of Norridge Public Works and Water Department employees wear uniforms that have the Village of Norridge logo on it, in addition to the employee’s name and title. They drive in clearly marked yellow or white pickup trucks that are also marked with the Village’s Public Works logo and have the words “Norridge Public Works” on the truck. All Village of Norridge employees also have Village issued picture I.D.’s that MUST be presented before you let them into your house. If someone knocks on your door that you are not expecting, or cannot produce proper Village identification, DO NOT LET THEM IN YOUR HOME! Close the door and call 9-1-1- immediately.
If you have any questions, please contact the Norridge Village Hall at 708-453-0800. If you witness or suspect anything out of the ordinary, please call 9-1-1- and report the activity.
